Christmas is a comin'

Our Christmas luncheon...I took this picture to show the candy cane reindeer that Cheryl made for everyone in the guild.  She tried to place them secretly , but I caught her in the act. Such a thoughtful thing to do...thanks, Cheryl. Mine is on my tree and staying there until after Christmas at which time I will gobble him up...
Here we are just getting organized for a wonderful meal.  The auxiliary of the United Church is the group that prepared the meal and it was delicious.

Show and tell always is a highlight  and after our meeting and  stuffing our faces with wonderful food we got right down to it.  Here Muriel is showing us her Smitten with mitten table runner that she made as a gift...notice it has Nova Scotia tartan...wonder where it is going???
Joan West had some fun with a little twister and made this Christmas table runner.  It's a fun technique...kind of addictive once you start.
Ethel Raymond did some embroidery. It's an angel that reminds us what is important in life.
Jackie got her table runner finished and someone suggested a name for it....A Cold Day in January....nice thing about her fabric choices...it's a winter one, not just a Christmas runner..
Look at that stack of chemo caps that Jean made. What a wonderful thing to do! Fleece and embellished...nice and toasty warm.
Jean comes to the ladies of the evening meetings and here is the half square triangle technique that she perfected.  Good fabric choice for her card table topper...(will look great on our tables at the next quilt show...right, Jean???)
Despite all that is going on in Vera's life these days she found some time to make a wonderful wall hanging...that's nubby yarn that makes the Christmas tree....lots of texture...wonderful job.
And a circular table topper...again by Vera. Isn't it a pretty one???
Caught ya' blinking , Vera...but that is a cute wall hanging in the smitten with mittens pattern....I haven't made mine yet...still got a couple of weeks...
Pat made this sweet wall hanging for her grand daughter...it's got lots of bees on it.
Hiding behind that sweet table topper is Vivian Patriquen...
And here she is again, hiding!. This wall hanging as she called it, is a joke between her and her pastor.  She does not like to fish and he does. Now he can let the world know what he's doing.
Judy has been knitting up a storm...this maple leaf hat is for her daughter who is running a marathon...in Rome, no less... and Judy felt she should have something uniquely Canadian... That works!!
Plus she has some catching up to do.  This is part one of the BOM and the rest of us are on part two....no doubt when we're back together in the New year , Judy will be caught up and probably way ahead of the rest of us.
Gail Rodgers made the Hexie Table topper in Christmas fabrics.
Ellen did the same...this is the second picture...she hid in the first one....
That's Helen Steeves and THAT is her house and garage. Her son drafted it for her and she hooked it...amazing.  It will be hanging in Government House in Fredericton  the 18th of December .  That's a WOW, Helen!!
This amazing quilt is a gift for Vivian Hayward's son's Mother-in-law...can you believe it!!! the picture does not do it justice and the quilting, as well as the top is extraordinary. Beautiful, Vivian...you did yourself proud!!
This is the second hooked piece that Helen showed us....obviously she has been busy.  What a gorgeous goose. The poinsettia's are wonderful..so vivid and rich in colour.
Marilyn brought in her "Ten Minute Block". It's the one she was demonstrating at the quilt show. Now it is finished(long arm by Agathe) and ready to be shipped off for a Christmas present.    Lucky recipient!

Kay is hiding (as is Marlene ) behind these adorable teddy bear quilts for her grand children.  So sweet, grandma!

That's our last show and tell for the year 2012...we played a game of Left/Right and passed around our fat quarters. Some were reluctant to let go of the ones they liked but others made them so it all worked out in the end.  To all, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year.
