Program Day , Sept 24/13

what a great day we had....so many wonderful things to see.. Here's Joan's Witchy quilt with their legs hanging over their brooms.. As usual, with Joan...extremely well done.
Here's Marilyn showing us her snuggly mittens that are so warm...
and here are her mug rugs...she's been busy.
Sheila brought in a wonderful lap quilt that Ann did for her. Such good friends.
Leigh's bags...she comes up with the nicest bags..I love this one, with its buttons and embroidery , not to mention the gorgeous batiks.
and here's another colorful and practical purse.  I have a feeling she has more purses than I do and that is saying something because I am a quilted bag nut!!
Judy made this felted door pull of a snowman ...even has felted buttons. Made at a quilt retreat..bet it was fun to do.
Now this intrigues me... a woven snow flake in white fabric.  Judy has agreed to show us how to make this. I'll sign up for sure....
Judy's been busy knitting for her new grand daughter. What a gorgeous sweater....wonder if it could be done adult size???
Evelyn put together this wonderful sampler of stars. I love the different sizes she has put together...makes it more interesting.
And Muriel is getting organized for Christmas with this half-hexie table runner. So festive..
Blowin' in the Wind...such an appropriate name for this quilt...Ethel thought of it and I must say it was a good choice. And the judges at the Kennebecasis Valley Quilt Show and sale  thought so as well....they gave it a ribbon for Best Group quilt.  Comments were great too, but you have to attend guild to hear them....
This one is mine....Baltimore Bouquet...won first place in the Large Traditional category.
This one is also mine and it won 2nd place in the Large Traditional category.   Sussex Vale Quilters' Guild did very well this year.

We're Back!

Ain't no flies on these ladies!  Up bright and early , off to the hall and a quilt in frame. They do a wonderful job of keeping the Guild well  supplied with comfort quilts. There's nothing as comforting as a hand quilted quilt, especially when the need is so heart breaking.  Good job, ladies!
Joan's been busy...this is a quilt for her grandson...music fabric and masculine colours....
 A bed topper...looks like a piano...nice job..for sure...
Odds and ends and "leftovers"...works for me. You had a busy summer, Joan.

Sandra bought the pattern and it was reasonable but the ruler to make it was a little more dear. Oh well....it's important to have the right tools...
I like this project... a small cutting board carrier with pockets for 'stuff'....
Lilliane made her sewing machine mat, thread catcher and pin cushion.  She sure has a knack for putting together the right fabrics and colours.
Would you believe that Ellen is in her 90's and she made this placemat and the next picture shows her table runner.  I hope I have half her get up and go ...actually, I just hope I, too, can reach her age and be as sharp.

Can you believe it!!! Ellen did this top for the comfort quilt quilters...what an amazing woman!..
Here's another lady that amazes me...Vivian P...she did her block of the month and it is quilted.  What a woman!!
Hey, our other Vivian (H.) did her block of the month as well....in pastel shades. ....so pretty. Sheep is fuzzy, too...
Here's Vivian H's table topper from the brown bag challenge. Sherry put the fabric together and
Vivian quilted it. Sure was a fun project!
Lucky Vivian...won the strips from the "Strip Poker" game we had with Fredericton in May when they came to visit.  Here is her quilt all together...quilted by Agathe...great job , ladies!
Muriel told us about her purchases (all more expensive than this ) and how she carefully put it all together and then found this top that only needed to be bound for a fraction of the cost of the one she'd already done.....oh well....
Master knitter, Carolyn made this gorgeous sweater following an Icelandic pattern......
....and then she knit this sweet little baby sweater that has cables and bobbles and is darn cute!
Judy took a class with Gerri Richards and made this really neat bag.
then she made this great table topper...been busy, Judy!
This is another class that Judy took.....quilt as you go and reversible....that looks really interesting.
and here's her tote bag/purse...has a pocket inside and looks great.
Hard to believe this is a beginner's first attempt at a full sized quilt....and a king sized one to boot. Beautiful!
Joan made this sweet wall hanging and put her quilts in the KV quilt show , so we'll just have to go there to see what she's been up to....
Ann grand daughter made this Anita's Arrowhead...isn't it fabulous!! I adore scrappy quilts and this one fits the bill...a great job, both in piecing AND quilting. Grandma is a wonderful teacher.
Marilyn got this pattern from Missouri Star quilts and had some fun...great table topper just waiting for Christmas.
This is a bag she mad...I think someone may get it for Christmas...lucky girl!
And not to be outdone....she made this cowl scarf, a hat to match and some .....texting gloves...yeah, you read correctly....one must keep up with the times...

Well, that is it for our first meeting of the year...boy, we're a busy lot...sure feels good to see all the wonderful projects that have kept us busy....
