February 25. 2014

Program day and I forgot my camera...thanks to Muriel we have some pictures for our blog.  Here we have two reversible crib quilts made by Ethel.
Susan made this gorgeous quilt and finished it up while watching the Olympics.  Great to have something else to do while watching  Canada's athletes excel.
AND not to be outdone, here are a couple of pillow cases to match.
Sherry got her BOM done from two years ago. We're hoping to see it all finished for the quilt show in September...Sherry????
Our annual Chinese auction and tickets have been purchased and the fun begins....Kay made out like a bandit with her sequential numbers in the 2's..wonder if she went and bought a lottery ticket..it was her day!
Here's a sweet quilt put together by Evelyn for our comfort quilts.  The picture does not do justice to the soft teal colour.

Not only did we have show and tell and the Chinese auction, we had a sewing day making anti-ouch pouches, drain bags and pillowcases.  Joyce will be doing a tally for us and seeing to their delivery.  It sure feels good to make things for others and it's even more fun when doing it as a group.  Nice job , ladies!!

February Business Meeting

Here's the first of Marilyn's projects.....a wallet kit that turned out just perfect....so much so , I believe she will be making another one or two or three.......
Here's "Oh Canada" made by Marilyn and ready for the next stage...backing and quilting.
A Modern style quilt ...pattern can be found in a tutorial by Jenny Doan on the Missouri Quilt co.. A quick and fun technique to make a fresh and summery quilt.
And lucky Kate, Momma is making some quick and pretty wallets for presents at her Scentsy parties.  In batiks no less...good job, Mom!
Sandra came up with a great idea ...using tape inside thimbles to keep them in place. Plus purchasing them economically at the dollar store.
Marj did another gorgeous applique  wall hanging.  What a great job!!
Ellen put us all to shame ... here she is in her 90's and quilting away.  A sweet baby blanket...wonderful , Ellen!
With a memory like a sieve...I've forgotten the name of this quilt....I keep thinking Gordian Knot but I know that's not quite it...anyway, Renate made this wonderful quilt...king sized , no less.  The woman is a powerhouse...hard to keep up with her.
Judy tried the disappearing four patch with a twist and came up with two samples as pot holders.  Good job, girl!
Here's a neat little pot holder in a heart motif just in time for Valentine's Day.
Judy called this a thread catcher...I call it an ort catcher...either one is appropriate and convenient to have on your quilt when hand quilting...
This wonderful quilt top was a donation, all marked and ready for hand quilting as part of comfort quilts.
This sweet lap quilt was made by Ann's grand daughter and they quilted it together...building wonderful memories and spending quality time together...lucky Ann!, lucky grand daughter!
Judy got her block of the month all done.  This year she is going to be ahead of us all.
Here's the 2014 Guild quilt...not named yet, but showing incredible promise to be another beautiful quilt.  Another border of vines and leaves with complete the project and then the ladies will quilt it.
This gorgeous masterpiece is Carolyn's and it is stunning.  Anita's Arrow in beautiful batiks. Masterful job, Carolyn...be proud!
