Program Day, March 25, 2014

Marilyn is working on her table topper.....
 along with Margaret and Helen.....
and Evelyn.
In between the table topper steps Vera and Marge put this gorgeous quilt in the frame...you will see it all quilted at the quilt show and sale in September...going to be beautiful.
Here are the morning lassies with their table toppers all sewn and ready for backing , except for keener Helen who got hers already finished. It was a good class and Ann is an excellent teacher...knows her stuff and very encouraging.
For Show and Tell, Jacquie started the day off with the panel that Bea brought last meeting.  Here it is all backed and quilted.  What a sweet cuddle quilt.....thanks to Bea and Jacquie.
This beauty was done by Jacquie and her sister and now Jacquie has a quilt for her bed. We'll need that for the show so don't get too attached to it....ok!!
Renate is such a quick learner. She made her disappearing pin wheel at the evening class and brought it in to show at the meeting today....
Marge was "johnny on the spot' and got her block of the month finished...all quilted...before anyone else.  Looks great.
 Judy made one.....
 two.......
and three mini duffle bags to be used as knitting bags or toy carrying bags for her grand kids.  Nice granny...!
Judy Hughes made one.....

two......

three......
four....cuddle quilts...how's that for a dedicated quilter...she also brought some preemie knitted caps....been a busy girl!!!
She also brought her "Oh Canada" all pieced together and ready for some quilting.  They sure do look great and it is amazing how different they all are...
Here's ReBecca showing us a piece of fabric art she worked on. ON the table beside her were some absolutely amazing works of art. ReBecca explained how SAQA(Studio Art Quilts Association) displays fibre artists work and how the association promotes their work.  We saw some wonderful pieces in their travelling trunk show. The cool thing about it is that they were encased in plastic and therefore we were able to handle the pieces and read the artist's statement on the back.  Great display and interesting work.

March 11, 2014 Meeting

We started the meeting off with visits from two of our Froggy friends..here's Marilyn's patriotic frog  , waving the flag and ready for Canada Day.
Gail brought along her St. Patty's Day frog...see the quilt in her hand...paw...whatever frogs have for limbs....don't tell anyone , but we peeked and she has underwear on.  What a great job on these funny, interesting , well dressed and darn cute frogs....
Here are two of three cuddle quilts that Agathe sent along . She was unable to attend our sewing day but contributed anyway.
Ann did some knitting and finished this beautiful Fisherman's knit sweater with gorgeous cables and intricate stitches.
Susan brought along the next installment of her wall hanging BOM from Quiltmaker. Going to be wonderful to see all done.
Here's her summer "skinny" also from Quiltmaker ...the next in the series is the autumn and is has owls on it.  Can't wait to see it, too.
Jacqui made this wonderful pillow case with purple butterflies for her niece.
Then she made this wallhanging. She
s been a busy girl doing great work as usual..
Marilyn finds a panel, takes a look and has an immediate idea. She acts on it and voila, here is one of several mug rugs for her coffee drinking pal.  So innovative, quick and talented.
Judy brought in some more anti-ouch pouches...so did Vivian H. but she didn't hold still long enough for a picture.  We ended up with more than 40 to go to the hospital.
Ethel brought in these great nine patch quilt tops for the comfort quilt stash,  A simple pattern, whether on point or horizontal, yet so very effective.

Renate made this wonderful log cabin pattern. Excellent work and ready for the next border.
Jean put together these two cuddle quilts .
Bea brought in this wonderful panel and some material for the backing. Jacqui has agreed to take it home and finish it and return it to the cuddle quilts. Quilters are so very generous.
And last but not least, it's great to see Joan back with us, we've missed her and here is a beautiful blue and yellow quilt that she finished despite a few grumbles about the 56 pieces for each square...teehee!!
