November 24 ..Program Day

We had a wonderful program this Tuesday...Lorette Cole from Spruce It Up Quilt shop, Port Elgin came to visit....needless to say, we kept her hopping.  Here's Jackie starting off show and tell will a wonderful Chemo Quilt she made for our challenge this year.  .....masculine and gorgeous, Jackie!
She also got into making microwave bowls and then these cute little square bowls to show her sister how to make them.
Here's her second Chemo quilt....she doesn't waste time, this girl.   generous too!
Lilliane got her chemo quilt done as well..it's got a second show and tell before it heads to its destination.
This lovely quilt is for Lilliane's daughter. Lilliane designed this quilt herself,,,isn't it amazing.
Joan bought a fabric line and put it together in this soft and muted shades quilt...gorgeous!
Susan didn't want her grand kids trick or treating with pillow cases(that's how you get the most candy, Susan) and made two of these trick or treat bags for them.
She's got a surprise awaiting her and this pink quilt is just in case.....

along with this blue....you must be prepared!
Ann got into the folded fabric and decided she'd best learn how to do it before her grand daughter ended up showing her how....
and this gorgeous top consists of the fat quarters she got to celebrate her 70th..
Renate got her reversible woven table runner all finished.

then sowed us her chemo quilt yet to be quilted.
Sandra Alston hit the big 70 this August and made this adorable table runner with some of them.

This is one of two place mats she got inspired to finish.....
along with this project from a visit to Newfoundland a few year's ago.
This top also includes some of the fat quarters...we told her she had to do something with them and she listened...good girl, Sandra.
Don't panic...poor Carolyn had to wear a mask....someone spilled gas and the fumes were too much for her sensitivity....this is one of the children's aprons she made..they are so very cute!

This granny gown is not for Carolyn...it is a Christmas present...bet it's really snuggly!
Jean made this table topper...she wanted winter but not Christmas...this works really well.
This beauty ...with well done points was made by Bea Elliot ...love the background and the backing on it as well.
Adorable!  This is HOlly HObby hanging out her laundry...bloomers and all.  What a wonderful laundry room wall hanging, Bea!
I can't get a break here...this was in one of the magazines I decided should go to someone else.  I didn't see that  in it.. Judith did and look what she made....smart cookie!
Cheryl got her block of the month done in black and white and it turned out perfectly.  Well done, girl!
Now this pattern I did see and put in my little box of things to do....Vera beat me to it ...hers is gorgeous!
Marilyn made another travel duffle bag  in black and white...I believe it is a christmas present for some lucky person....

This, too, is a Christmas present for a lucky little boy..made by Marilyn..  I think she has as much fun making these things as she does giving them away...to very lucky and happy recipients.

Evening Ladies, November 16, 2015

Out of sequence but still worth looking at....Here's Wendy modelling a "whoopie Pie" apron that Marion made...the question asked that made Wendy crack up was whether or not clothing was optional....you don't want to know the answer.
Look at this sweet tutu purse that Joanne made....someone said they would pretend not to know her if she used it in public but I think she was kidding since we all ooohed and aaahed over it..

Christmas is coming and here's a little twister wreath made by Joanne.
Beth is making mug rugs for those she works with...wonder if it will include a cup of coffee with it?
This is her table runner that needs to be bound and she is looking for that red or maybe that green to do the job..

Here's "miss Innocence "  holding up just a couple of the wallets she's made in the last little while and knowing Marilyn that is not all she's made.
Ruth brought this wonderful table runner she made for Christmas time.  Love it!
and here is her reversible woven table runner...she prefers this side over the lighter bordered reverse.
Madeline made this sweet pillow case doll and embroidered cute things to finish it just so.
She's also hiding behind these wonderful big beach bags she made for gifts.
Cheryl is working on her Block of the Month table runner....took some time to get it straight in her head and now she's comfortable with the technique.....much like the rest of us...we learn as we go.
Sandra is busy knitting dish cloths....
she made these adorable pillow cases for a little girl that is into soccer...those are soccer balls...didn't get a picture of the sweet little gift bags she made and showed us...
Here is "bag lady" Wendy with two more wallets and........
this class bag she made that used an easier fabric than plastic for the liners...smart cookie!!
Marion made hers as well and gave us a giggle in how she let us know she was NOT making another....so  full of humour.
This lovely quilt is a memory quilt for her...blocks made by members of her guild in Newfoundland...some with initials in them and put together just recently....a treasure to keep for sure.

November 10, 2015

Here we are at Show and Tell with Ellen Henderson leading the way...seems only fitting since she is 97 years young.  She is showing us a crocheted sock she made ...pattern in a book given to her by Gail Rodgers. She informed us that she will NOT be making any of us a pair of these socks and if anyone would like to borrow this book...please contact Ellen...

Some of us did the workshop with Judith Hughes and here we display some of the finished projects.....
with the reverse side just to show that they are actually reversible woven table runners...a fun project and well explained by Judy...
Susan finished one more crayon quilt ....sheesh I better get busy and sew my second one together...I am lagging behind!
And look at this, called A Maze   and Susan , we are so proud of you...it is scrappy...
Here is Vera putting us all to shame with her SECOND block of the month table topper...wonder who is going to win for most point made.....hmmmm!
Sandra showed us this sweet purse she made with the zippered pocket inside...just big enough to carry some cash and your cell phone...what else does a girl need....
She made this pretty wall hanging as well.
Carolyn is cleaning up PHD's and this is certainly a gorgeous one.  Lovely tree skirt there Carolyn.
Vivian H showed this very masculine and large black and white quilt for a king sized bed...stunning!

Judith Hughes made this table topper for her sister...it is......
reversible....can be used for Christmas and Fall....
She also made these very Christmasy place mats....lucky sister.
and that is not all...this table topper was meant to be kept but the dimensions were not right so ...sister...yup, that lucky sister again...gets this table runner as well...
Judy Steeves  is in the knitting mode and made these teeny tiny acorns for a friend's tree......
and a pair of , as she called them "Trigger MItts".  I call them Newfie Mitts.... a rose by any other name.....
Bea made a couple of Christmas pillows with Santa Clauses on them....now she has to decide who gets them for Christmas.
She also made this monitor cover for the computers at her office....trial and error , without a pattern...but she did it...way to go, girl!

Cynthia made a couple of reversible bags....short handled purses or tote bags..you choose for Christmas presents.
Then she made this lovely wall hanging from fabrics of a departed friend...lovely momento.
This beauty was made using a medallion centre applique pattern and then using layer cakes...the corners are unique with different applique on them.....
and please note the wonderful label she made for this quilt...something we should all remember to do.
Jean called this a half apron....I was thinking just apron by itself but her terminology makes better sense....
Evelyn did this sweet quilt for her grand daughter...love the simplicity of the pattern , the soft colours....so pretty.
One of the wonderful comfort quilts that was finished today...Ellen is taking it home to put on the binding.

Ann showed her Block of the month...she has more point than I do but Vera still has the most.
