May 28, 2025 Program Day Sweatshirt Jacket

 The May workshop was taught be Susan Snyder. Strip piecing onto a decontructed sweatshirt produced some amazing results.

May 13, 2025 Show and Tell

 Monthly meeting May 13, 2025 followed by Show and Tell


Sample quilt blocks were shown and kits were passed out to members



The book that was purchased by the Library Committee was shown by Marilyn T
This purchase is dedicated to the late Marilyn Wynn



Susan S. got creative with the Trade Blocks. She used them in a bag as well as a small quilt. The quilt has a cute scrappy binding.



Leigh S. made a colourful version of  Lovely Ombre Cabins. this was started in 2019 and completed in 2025. Designer Vanessa Christensen 




Helen S made several drain bag covers to donate.


Judy S showcased two projects. First is her Block of the Month 2018-19. This consists of appliqued winter scenes and finished at 56 1/2 by 72 1/2. Country Life was designed by Joan Smith






Judy's second Block of the Month is Build A Quilt 2024-25
The blocks of various sizes finished at 36 1/2 by 50 1/2


Cathy K showed us her projects. The lap quilt with flannel backing is Ground Cover and credit was given to Agathe K for the quilting.



Cathy took part in the Mystery Quilt 2024-25. It's Knot A Surprise...It's a Mystery designed by Ethel Raymond



Cathy has made a lovely table runner. Tangled Leaves designed by Jill Finley, Jillily Studio





Diane B also completed her Mystery Quilt 2024-25. It's Knot A Surprise...It's a Mystery designed by Ethel Raymond


Secondly Diane showed her Cardinal Quilt that is flannel backed. this was made from a Robin Pickens pattern.


Judy H has a pretty pink donation quilt in the Amish Bars style to pass in


Judy's second project is a hexagon candle mat.

This is the quilt Judy made from the Trade Blocks this year.

The fabric and the 3 quilt blocks were acquired by Judy at the Chinese Auction. That's a nice finished runner

Judy has completed the  Build A Quilt 2024-25 Block of the Month




Judy has consistently designed and completed her monthly wall hanging. Here are September and October.




Sharon R has completed her Amish Bar quilt that was started on Charity sewing day and later completed at home.





April 22, 2025 Trunk Show Sue McEachern, Slow Stitching Judy Steeves & Brenda Roth

April 22, 2025

SVQG hosted Akerley Area and Victoria Quilt Guild for Program Day that included a Trunk Show, Slow Stitching, Show &Tell and lunch.

Award winning quilts were showcased. Awards such as Best In Show and Best Hand Quilting.Many items were shown, small, medium and large. Some techniques used were hand piecing, machine piecing, applique,embroidery, bias tape, use of selvages, needle felting, wool on cotton, wool on linen, wool on wool and slow stitching.  Borders included traditional, wavy, saw tooth and piano key. Quilting techniques included hand quilting, hoop quilting and machine quilting.
Sue mentioned that she didn't always label the quilts that were for herself. She loves using Wool Batting.
Sue has purchased several old quilts and at the end of her show she gave one of those away.

Show & Tell

First in the Show and Tell section were our guests from Akerley Guild

Laurie M. presented her 9 Patch With A Twist which was hand quilted.Laurie's denim jacket is embellished with quilted sections



Laurie also showcased the Scrap Happy Triple Irish Chain quilt that the Akerley Guild has made as a Raffle Quilt


Jane's project is Fireworks and it even has a pieced backing

Jackie C has used a Lighthouse Panel and some orphan blocks to construct her quilt


A fun Swimsuit Quilt was made by Pat. Laurie was given credit for the quilting. Pat also was wearing a quilted jacket  



Sharon M showed her Sew'n Wild Oats Quilt, made in brown and teal fabrics



Paula has a project in wool and a very cute small quilt



Ann C has made a pillow from a Spider Block and it includes spider web quilting



Brenda D described a fun activity where you take in 3-5 UFO's and the group decides which one you finish in a specified timeframe.
Brenda showed her Sleigh & Reinder project as well as Bargello Butterflies.



Maryann brought along her Watercolour Heart project, class taught by Brenda D. Project is machine quilted and you may notice a little cat in the corner, Maryann's signature addition


The group was shown a photo of the Log Cabin In The Valley Quilt that KV Guild will be selling raffle tickets on

Stars In My Garden was made by Beth S . The flowers are wool applique and machine quilting is in a leaves pattern

Leigh S was working on her Scrap Happy Sampler quilt top at Villa Madonna Retreat 2024. She has a lovely Piano Key border on this project
