Show and tell, February 10, 2015

we started show and tell with a comfort quilt that Vivian Patriquen had taken home and bound.

 Then Ethel showed us a cuddle quilt she put together with the cutest frog fabric.

Judy made a couple of sewing kits for her grand children...take note that the grand kids chose the fabric and colours. She filled them with the necessities.

 Here is a lavender pillow she hooked at rug hooking.  Smelled gorgeous.

 This is my Whoo Knows owl quilt ...a pattern from Fat cat Patterns and a real joy to quilt.  Each owl has its own design.

Muriel added to her collection of Blue, White and silver for Christmas with this mitten and snowman wall hanging.

 Jackie is still having fun with her new sewing machine and this is a cuddle quilt she made ....the pictures I took of the cute wall hangings she also made, unfortunately, are blurry.

 Jackie joined the Fabric Cupboard's weekly block challenge (six inch squares) and enjoyed it thoroughly....learned a lot , too.

Gail and Ellen both did their block of the month challenge and here is Ellen's.

 Carol amazed us with this blue work....especially when she told us that the blocks were embroidered on her machine.

Ann is reacting to my comment that she must have shrunk her sweater because that one won't fit...but I am sure she can find a grand baby that it will fit.

These are the gorgeous crocheted Christmas balls she did...I understand they are a gift for next year.

 Marge has been busy  cleaning up UFO's and these are some baby panels she quilted to add to our cuddle quilt stash.

Joan followed in her sister's footsteps and cleaned up some UFO"s as well.  Here is a table topper and below is a tumbling blocks that she added to the cuddle quilts.

 Evelyn joined the cuddle quilt parade and added this sweet Noah's ark baby quilt.

Agathe , now that she has more time has been busy.  Here are some hats she knitted.

A crayon quilt for her grand daughter who will be getting some actual crayons and coloring books to go with it..

Judy made some pillow cases with flying geese borders...looking great.

Cynthia made this jean quilt ....note, the pocket in the centre she had embroidered as her label...smart cookie!

Here's the back...very masculine, indeed.  Good thing since it is going to her son...

 Jean, Like Ann can't figure out sizes...this sweet sweater is way too small for her, too.  Wonder which grand baby she made it for..

 Her table runner ...the scrappy nine patch pattern we're all anxious to make looks great  this way,too.

 Rightfully called a Bed of Roses, ;this is a wonderful way to showcase a larger print fabric.  So called because the roses are all laying down. Wonderful job, Jean.

Vera prefers to sit and applique rather than sit and sew at the machine but she is persevering and made a start on her scrappy nine patch.

 Marilyn has been busy in between meetings and doing some knitting.  Her is a gorgeous cowl....

Evening Ladies February 10, 2015

 I don't know who is hiding behind this wonderful "Deck-ade" the Halls quilt.  But as you can see as we go along they are so gorgeous...makes me wish I had participated.  I'm one of those  dummies that have to know how it's going to finish up before starting...I know, I know they call it 'spoiler alert'..

This one is Carolyn's...her first one....

 and here is her second one.  Ambitious woman.  They are both great!

 Renate did hers as well , with a little embellishment to make it her own.  She 'sandwiched' it and has it all ready for hand quilting.  Can't wait to see it finished.

 Wendy is so keen on quilting she just can't seem to stop herself.  Here is a gorgeous appliqued pillow she made.

AND this wonderful quilted bag.  Notice the purple...wonder if she and Helen swap fabrics???

 Renate made this  sweet sixteen bag..her's is a little bigger than Marilyn's but equally as useful.

Ruth had to prove she has been busy...with no less than three bags.  Here's the first

and this one is a little different with grommets and cording for straps.  they are all amazing.

Carolyn doesn't like working with black but she does it well anyway.  This "Labyrinthe" pattern is stunning with the turquoise.

and last but not least, Renate made this braid quilt from her scraps...it is such a wonderful scrappy pattern.  As you can see the "Ladies of the Evening" have been busy despite the heavy snow and the cold weather...and there is more to come....

Christmas Banquet 2014

 Our Christmas banquet was held at the All Season's Restaurant and we had a wonderful Chinese/Canadian buffett....hot,cold, tasty,and lots of food...we all rolled home like well stuffed pillows. Here are the ladies anxiously awaiting the great food.

Ha, Jeannie was trying to hide but Dawn figured it out and grinned anyway.

Lilliane made this table runner.  The Christmas panel is a Norman Rockwell who could do Christmas scenes like no one else.

 Hiding behind this wonderful redwork is Vera Turner. I didn't know she did redwork...and so well, too.

 Susan Snyder made her Three Dudes table topper and tried her hand at machine quilting. I think she was pleased with how well it turned out.

 Here's a gorgeous quilt that reminded me of a Christmas Cactus.  It was hand quilted by Susan ....in a HOOP!..Great job, there Susan.

 Carolyn has been busy getting ready for Christmas gifting.  Here a sweet pair of jammies.

Jean got her Christmas Three Dudes table runner done as well.  

Look at that Vivian go!  97 years young and putting us all to shame.  What a beautiful table runner she made. Love the colours!

 Ethel has a pen pal or is it Secret Santa. She called this a a Humbug bag...kind of neat, don't you think?

She brought her amazing nine patch...teeny tiny nine patches with vines..wonderful!

 "Teach" thought it would be politic that she finished her Three Dudes table topper too.  Smart girl, Judy.

And she brought her Sampler all quilted and looking great.

 Jackie got her 'believe' finished and read to hang.

 we all decided this should be called a "Kissing Ball" since it's a little bigger and we all need a kissing ball at Christmas time right....especially since mistletoe doesn't grow in New Brunswick.

Muriel got her folded star ornament finished and brought it to show and tell.  Wendy did 10 and didn't realize that we always want to see what quilters and crafters are doing.

Ah the magic of Christmas.  Here's Ann's "kooie" instrument.  Everytime she said "kooie" the propeller on this board spun in the opposite direction.  All right, Ann....how did you do that????

Janice brought this really nice table topper.  The colours are perfect and the applique just makes it.  She has such good colour sense

Renate modelled her reversible vest.  She did a lovely job...as always.

We had a quick game of swap the fat quarter with a few ladies trying to steal the fat quarter that I had already stolen...shame on you ladies. Then Melda MacMillan won the "Last Lady Standing" game by having the most things in her purse...good thing Judy Steeves couldn't make it, no one has ever beat Judy for things in her purse.
