Sussex Vale Quilters' Guild makes a lot of comfort quilts...hand quilting them as well. Here's another wonderful example of a quilt that will go to someone in need.  Quilters are generous, caring people.

 Helen is hiding behind this amazing table topper...I think she told us it was made using a 'squedge'...whatever she used, it sure looks great.

 This is only one of three spicy spiral table runners that Helen made as gifts for her doctor's staff.  hmmm, maybe I should have gotten a job there.

 Muriel found this technique on the internet and just had to give it a try....she certainly chose the right colours ...it is great..now we need to see it quilted.

 Here's a top she bought at a yard sale...I won't repeat what she paid for it...just let me say that she got a real bargain.. Brought it home and quilted it and look at it , it is sweet.

She also finished her crayon quilt. That was a fun project, I must say.

 Gillian got inspired and made herself a sweet sixteen bag.

 Agathe chose batiks and balis for her Scrappy Nine and look at how it turned out.  Beautiful!!

 Vivian has been quietly working away and here is her cuddle quilt challenge ...ready before June, too.















This beauty will be going to the Stan Cassidy Centre in Fredericton to cheer the patients there.

 This quilt will be a comfort quilt for a friend of Vivian's that is going through chemotherapy. It's full of inspirational and caring words.

 Here's Vivian's scrappy nine with white grouting and sashing.  It works extremely well .

 Ethel is cleaning up UFO's and here is an apron she received from a pen pal.

 This snowflake pattern was Ethel's project of choice at the Villa Madonna last year and here it is all quilted and bound and looking marvelous.

Susan inherited some squares and fabric and finished this triple Irish Chain that she will be passing along.

 I recognise those appliqued squares. They look great ...surprise, surprise.

 Now this is wonderful...Love Blooms Here ....a block of the month from Quiltmaker that Susan did such an amazing job on.

Jackie got her cuddle quilt challenge made...hers is called Snowballs in July.  Well done, Jackie,

 Judy is following Ethel's example and cleaning up UFO's...what is it about March that makes quilters want to get project done???  These mittens are very unique...the show how the colour prominence is achieved.

and this double wedding ring table runner is working out very well.

 Renate got her cuddle quilt pieced and quilted.

 and she made some more sweet sixteen bags...they are sooo practical.












She also got a start on her Scrappy Nines.

Jean got her Scrappy Nine done and decided this was big enough......

 even though she had enough squares to do another....

Marlene and Kay finished off the show and tell with two panelled cuddle quilts they quilted and brought in.   We should be good for a while with regards to cuddle quilts.  The nice thing about this group is when the call comes out for more, the response is phenomenal...great bunch of gals!!!!

 Marilyn is taking a closer look at Cheryl's pin cushion with the really neat buttons she used.

This is a top that Cheryl made...such pretty colours and well balanced.

 Carolyn thought she would hate the randomness of the colours in this scrappy nine but once it is all together it is wonderful...right Carolyn???

Linda loves purple and proved it by making her pin cushion in one of her favourite colours.

 In between sewing Carolyn made this fabulous sweater with cables and  seed stitch...amazing.

Here's Linda's crayon quilt ...trust Linda to come up with interesting ways of putting things together.

 Today was Chinese Auction day....a good fund raiser for the guild and a great way to clean out your PHD's or UFO's or gadgets that you don't use and books you've read and want to pass along.  Here are the keeners having a good look to see what they were hoping to take home.

 The morning activity included the scrappy nine patch...a sample that Evelyn is holding.  Despite three attempts...one cancelled by weather and one with few numbers due to cold weather the group finally got a chance to make these wonderful squares. It is amazing how gorgeous they all are and all sooooo different.

Sorry, Ann I cut your head off trying to zero in on your square...Ann showed us all how to make this pattern. That pile you see of nine patches beside the finished square will be going into our guild quilt for raffle.  They are all wonderful.

Here's a kodak moment in the next three pictures. We were running short of cuddle quilts to pass along to the RCMP, hospital, and the women's shelter so with a mystery envelope challenge taken up by 17 of the members;here are 15 that came back today... some of them completely finished even though the challenge was just for the top to come back today. .  The two not available today will not doubt have theirs done before too long.  All the names went into a bag and Evelyn Kyle's name was drawn for a prize that was donated by Mary Lawson...many thanks to all that participated.

Jackie did the nine patch...watch her go, we'll probably see the whole thing finished by the next meeting...we should call her "sew runner" after the 'road runner".

 Here's Kay's Three Dudes table topper in gorgeous summer colours...reminds me of the tropics.

and here's a finished quilt she did....bought the top and the backing at the quilt show in Port Elgin and sat down and got busy quilting.  The picture does not do justice to the colours.

 Vivian Patriquin made this gorgeous log cabin as a table cloth...believe it or not.......

AND it is reversible...this lady amazes me .....!!!!!

 Susan made her Scrappy Nine patch her own way by colour co-ordinating it.  True scrappy gives Susan the Heebie-Jeebies....She's an orderly, color co-ordinated girl.

She also likes to challenge herself bye tackling techniques that require more practice and take her a little outside the box.  Love the colours.

 And her grand daughter will be the lucky recipient of this fabulous Sun Bonnet Sue quilt.  Such sweet pastel shades...

 Jean got her crayon quilt done and it looks great.

 Judy Hughes did the nine patch too...it turned out to be such a popular activity...

 She also joined the evening ladies and made her zippered pouch and is using it ...well that is what it is for, right, Judy?

 This fascinates me...the woven table topper by itself is interesting but Judy added dimensional flowers to it as well..Looks like fun.

For someone who doesn't like sitting at the sewing machine....Vera got her Scrappy Nine Patch done awfully quickly.  They are so wonderful...my favourite quilts by far.

 She decided it was too big with the extra rows and made a smaller quilt out of them.  They are both stupendous Vera.!!

Judy did some felting.with strips of wool  rolled up and washed in hot water and washed in hot water and got herself a pin cushion.

Not to be outdone Judy downsized her blocks for the scrappy nines and instead of 5 inch squares she used three inch squares.  Still looks great!

Just to keep things interesting she also did some little kiddie hats.  She's never bored, that one!

This top is one of the "Decade the Halls" mystery quilt that the ladies of the evening did before Christmas.  This one is Janice Handrahan's...colours are not true which is a shame because they are wonderful shades.  She did a great job....she's a perfectionist and it shows.
