Closing Banquet 2014

Froggy Challenge contenders.  Two missing in action ...that would be the curling frog and the Scotsman....

Our Guild Quilt aptly named "Nines and Vines" all bound and ready for the quilt show in September....when the label is affixed.
Second place winner of the Froggy Challenge, Vivian Hayward's snow frog..all dressed up in her winter coat and sporting some curly locks.

First place Froggy Challenge winner is aptly named "Camilla Parker Boyles" all dressed in her finery.  Lilliane Kyle felt her bra should have been stuffed a little more. Congratulations to both Vivian and Lilliane and a thank you to all the members who participated.

Joan gave us a few giggles with a poem that her daughter had written.

....
Hidden behind this beautiful Broken Star is Jean Thompson.  She made it at the retreat , finished it at home and brought it in for us to oooh and aaaah over.
Here's Jean's strippy table topper along with a few hexagon placemats she made to match.
This, too, is Jean's it is Anita's Arrow.
JOanne tried her hand at an "Oh Canada" flag and did a great job.
She also made this little Twister Christmas wreath.
This is a primitive quilt top that she is putting together.
Her centre medallion for her sampler quilt that she is doing in the evening classes.
Vivian Patriquen, hiding behind this wonderful snowman wall hanging puts us all to shame .
Here's Renates's striped table topper and placemat...look familiar. That's what happens when you shop at the same place as the other members.
and here's her Christmas version.
Here's Pat Mills scrappy top all ready to be quilted.
Ann brought in a block of the month from a previous year.
Joan brought in the quilt she made for her son.
I believe Judy told us she has been hand piecing this top for the past three years and still has the appliqued border to finish.  I guess we won't be seeing it in this year's quilt show.
Wendy has been busy...here's her sampler quilt from the evening classes.  Well done, Wendy.

She took her courage in her hands and tried some new projects...this strippy bag is one of them
along with charm pack placemats.  Way to go, girl!!
Vera brought in her brown bag challenge all quilted and bound.  If you are wondering, it is called "T for Turner".
This beauty is also Vera's.  A Christmas quilt and the picture does not do the quilting justice. It is gorgeous.
Leigh made this wonderful baby quilt for a wedding gift...for a not pregnant bride ....but for a future hoping to be bride.  Either way, it's wonderful.
Jackie got her 'artist' on and created this great work of art for her sister....all in fabric.. great work, Jackie.
And last but not least...Vivian showed us this quilt she made from her "strip poker' winnings. it's called Lava.

That's the end of our year...a change in executive and start up in September will herald a new year.  Don't forget our quilt show in September where you will get to see all the wonderful things we did over the past two years.  Until the second Tuesday in September, have a great, safe, warm and happy summer.
