Program/Workshop October 22, 2024

The first workshop of the 2024/2025 Quilt Guild year was instructed by Laurie Marr. The topic was Free Motion Quilting.

We were all very pleased with the instruction and inspiration we received from Laurie.

Show and Tell on Meeting Day October 8, 2024

Past president Judy H. assisting.

Beth S. presented a Halloween quilt.

Doreen D. used a panel and windmill blocks for her project.

Doreen spoke about inspiration from her Newfoundland roots.

Dawn P. cut apart a panel and used estate sale fabric to make this queen size Christmas Quilt.

Dawn made 2 cute Halloween Runners

She also showed off a farm themed panel she purchased from Fabric Cupboard

Susan S. is continuing to work projects in wool applique.

Susan has made the sweetest Gnomes and says it's the first time she has applied binding on a circle.

Susan mentioned the fact that she has joined Pleasant Valley Stitchers and has been practising all the embroidery stitches she has been learning.

Sharon R. completed 4 scrappy QAYG strip piecing placemats. She attended a workshop, also at Pleasant Valley Stitchers.

Sharon was inspired to make a Vinyl Project Pouch after Gail F. alerted the guild that the Monday Night Group were doing this free pattern from Moda. The interior is a sewing/quilting themed fabric and the back is a pillow panel, quilted with a decorative machine stitch The vinyl was re-purposed from packaging from a set of sheets.

Joan S. is showing us her Just Bloom Quilt made from Lollipop Garden Fabric
She noted that the pattern is available at the Fabric cupboard.

Bea O. made a lovely quilt from a panel. This was hand quilted.

Diane B. showcased last year's trade block pattern. The star point colours she used were red and black.

Diane also completed a Fall Runner.

Cathy K. made a fall themed runner using the Chenille technique.

Brenda S made a pretty scrappy quilt. She used 1 1/2 inch wide strips and used some leftovers on the back.

A quilt for Brenda's granddaughter used a charm pack with the squares cut in half.

Judy S. used the slow stitching technique to enhance the small square of material that was handed out at the funeral service for Marilyn W.

Patty E has made two charity quilts. They are 3 yard Fabric Cafe quilts.

Judy H made a gift for her granddaughter. This is a new cover for a Papasan chair cushion. It is an original design with help from Judy's sister-in-law. It will be easy to remove due to an envelope back.

She disclosed that the decorative heart was placed to cover a fabric flaw
