Monthly Meeting November 12, 2024 Show and Tell

Lots of lovely projects were shown. Judy H. assisted participants.

Thank-you to those who passed in details about their projects.

Susan S. showed a quilt top that had been a UFO (unfinished object) for 18 years.She mentioned that our colour preferences change a lot over the years. All triangles in the blocks are cut on the bias.

Susan used her embroidery skills to make a Christmas Wall Hanging

Susan's Log Cabin was made from a jelly roll purchased from Buttermilk Creek at Retreat. Credit was given to Agathe for the quilting. Her next show and tell was a miniature to match.

Susan made a Football Quilt out of 8"blocks. It is backed with flannelette and is being donated to Victoria's quilts

Joan S. has made a Cloud Nine Quilt. She used pastels from Lewis and Irene Fabrics

Gail F's striking Science Project Quilt is finished with zig zag bias binding.

Bea O. has used the Cloud Nine pattern to create her pastel quilt. Credit was given to Agathe K. for the quilting.

Beth A's wall hanging made from a Bird Panel and there is bird house fabric on the back.

Beth's second wall hanging was created using a Lighthouse Panel.

Next up for Beth was a Fantasy Polar Bear Panel also made into a wall hanging.

Beth also showed us her Footprints in the Sand wall hanging. It was backed using a heart fabric.

Caroline G. made a very colourful Brick Road quilt.

Caroline completed the 2022 Block of the Month. Two red blocks give an eye catching pop of colour in her predominately green quilt. Credit was given to Dawn P. for the quilting.

Sharon R, passed in her third cuddle quilt to Joyce B. It was made from a kit Ethel prepared for Charity sewing day last spring.

Ethel R. has made a Fishing Theme Panel quilt and decided it is for her grandson for Christmas.

A charity project that Ethel has undertaken is creating quilts from a mix of new and old. She pieced this quilt top and it will be matched with an old quilt instead of batting and a sheet as the backing. The quilt will be tied by the W.I. group and then gifted to a homeless shelter in Saint John.

Cathy K. worked with wool applique on cotton to create this Peace Hope Joy project.

Diane B. created a Birch Trees wall hanging. Her technique is wool applique on cotton.

Diane worked some quilty magic to make a Christmas card.

Diane made a blue quilt using the pattern Eidelweiss and Shoreline fabric.

Dianne G presented her colourful ABC quilt. She aquired the pattern at Retreat from Buttermilk Creek. Credit for the quilting was given to Dawn P.

Cynthia V gave some positive feedback about Chemo Quilts. Husband had cancer for 3 years and his quilt was at the end of his bed and was well used. A friend of her husband's unfortunately did not have the opportunity to use his, it was returned and ultimately gifted to an Oncologist who was definitely appreciative. Cynthia brought with her some sweet Christmas Cat ornaments. They even had knitted scarves. The photos don't do the project justice.
