Programme Day , May 26, 2015

Our last programme day for the year 2014-2015....we started our show and tell with Muriel's Disappearing Nine Patch...all quilted and looking wonderful...Agathe did the long arm quilting and now we expect it to be bound before too long, right Muriel????
Lilliane donated this comfort quilt, the quilting girls quilted it and then Lilliane took it home and bound it.  Another warm and fuzzy to  send out to those in need.
Not to tell tales out of school but Pat brought this "Oh Canada" top to the Villa Madonna last year and was such a social butterfly she didn't get it finished...not so this year, here it is all ready for quilting...way to go, Pat!
Agathe participated in the Block of the Month and got hers all quilted and bound.  She enjoyed the paper piecing but not the hand applique, so much.  Ah well, Agathe, it still looked great!
Judy made a pedal pad for her machine as well.  Interesting the different sizes for the pads and the pedals...you'd think they would make them a universal size.....go figure.
Rhea is going to be three....Judy's grand daughter(gee, I remember when she was born) and she loves Frozen...it seems only fitting that she get a quilt depicting the sisters.
Carolyn showed us her Scrappy Nine all quilted.  She did her 'grouting' in black and I must say it is stunning.
Judy H. showed off her pedal pad and a pin cushion she fashioned with felting and in a china mug...brava, Judy!
Ellen shared an heirloom.  This is an embroidered cloth that her mother did...you must remember that Ellen is in her nineties...the cloth is in wonderful condition ...what a joy to see treasures from yesterday...made from sugar bag fabric.
Marilyn got her challenge (baby cuddle quilts) done..the deadline is next week so she is ahead of the game.  Wonderful strippy pinwheel with flannel on the back...definitely cuddly.
Then she showed us her bag...we're going to call her the "Bag Lady" if she keeps this up...mind you, she has a way to go before she beats me....lol....
We did our station demonstrations and here is Ann showing how to put together a great "Fat Quarter" quilt.  She came up with the project after hitting the fat quarter jackpot for her big 70th.  Great way to use fat quarters!
Helen showed another Disappearing Nine Patch method....as luck would have it, Muriel's quilt at the beginning of show and tell used the same method only she colour co-ordinated hers...Helen showed a scrappy method.
Here's the third station...Marilyn playing with her nuts...her Hickory Nuts that is.  A really fun hand sewing project...one of those "take alongs" for long trips or waits in the doctors office.  Useful project...can be coasters, table toppers, runners, lap quilts and if really ambitious a full sized bed quilt.
Lastly, my station...the Reversible Quilt as you Go pattern...how to turn a four patch into a quilt square pinwheel all quilted before being joined.  I've made four of these as lap quilts...they seem to find other homes and I have to keep making them...good thing I enjoy it......
