Program Day September 25, 2018

What a wonderful program day!  This lovely lady is Melany Wade and she came dressed to impress...as her character Fannie from 1867. It began as a project for Canada 150 and did she ever do an amazing job with her costume. It was as authentic as it could possibly be.  She knew her stuff and regaled us with how  a lady dressed in that era. I know one thing...I am sure glad I didn't live in the Victorian era.  Over forty pounds of material from the 'unmentionables' to the special collar, the gathered fabric for the dress and pre-bustle, to the special sleeves and crinolines.  Even the parasol had the same design that was relevant in the 1600's. We enjoyed hearing about Fannie's ability to sew and quilt and what it was like having to change two to three times daily. Amazing to say the least...it kept me absorbed!
Judy started show and tell with her contribution to the Poppy Project that Cindy from Crafter's Vineyard challenged us with.
Patty...who is a hand piecer and hand quilter showed us her beautiful quilt made especially for her little piece of heaven in Elgin.

She also made these star pictures ....she secured them to painter's canvas and hung them on her wall....what an ingenius idea!!
Mary made this sampler...from "Little Women" and it has authentic Civil War fabrics...so pretty!
Her DH  bought her a fabric kit and she made this wonderful quilt...seems to me her DH is a keeper.
Elsie tells us that she made 25 of these ponchos over the summer holidays...busy woman!

Judith...who is always finding amazing retreats and classes to attend .....returned with her version of the curved Log Cabin using a special ruler. I bet she had fun!
Leigh just had to share some teeny weeny little quilts that she did this summer...here is her little houses......
another tiny quilt.....
and her circular folded fabric project. Nice to keep busy and have a lot to show for it.
This is Cynthia's quilt ...Smitten ,; using Kansas troubles fabric.
And Agate finally got to finish a quilt for herself....what with all the long arm demands she's had....that would be miraculous.
That Vivian...we just can't keep up with her...she did her president's challenge so Helen held it up for us to see. It's hard to keep a good woman down!
This beauty is Carolyn's...it is king sized and gorgeous.....it will be in the show...come see for yourself.....
